Feel Safe. Feel Heard. Feel Supported.

At Mind Matters Counselling UK, we recognise that everyone’s needs, circumstances, and preferences are different. That is why we offer flexible counselling options designed to provide a safe, confidential, and supportive therapeutic experience.

We currently offer:

  • In-person counselling in Pontefract, West Yorkshire
  • Online (virtual) counselling across the UK
  • Telephone counselling for remote support

These options allow clients to choose the format that best suits their lifestyle, comfort, and emotional needs.

At present, we offer individual counselling sessions only. We do not currently provide couples or group counselling. If you are seeking couples or group therapy, we recommend searching for alternative counselling services.

Counselling for a range of emotional and psychological difficulties, including:

  • Anxiety & Stress
  • Depression & low mood
  • Self-esteem & confidence issues
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Bereavement & loss
  • Life changes & emotional overwhelm
  • Trauma-informed support

We use a flexible and client-centred approach to counselling, tailoring therapy to meet your unique needs and personal goals. Below is an overview of the two primary counselling approaches we use:

Person-Centred Counselling

Person-centred counselling (also known as client-centred counselling) is a humanistic therapy approach that focuses on your personal experience, self-perception, and emotional understanding.

Rather than analysing unconscious thoughts or directing the process, this approach encourages you to explore your feelings in a non-judgemental, empathetic, and supportive space. You lead the counselling process, with the counsellor offering understanding, acceptance, and reflection to support personal growth and self-awareness. This approach can be particularly helpful for individuals seeking greater self-understanding, confidence, and emotional clarity.

Integrative Counselling

Integrative counselling is a holistic and adaptable approach that combines a range of therapeutic techniques to suit your individual needs.

Drawing from different schools of therapy, integrative counselling may incorporate emotional, cognitive, and behavioural strategies to support your wellbeing. This flexible approach allows counselling to adapt as your needs evolve, ensuring therapy remains relevant and supportive throughout your journey. Integrative counselling can be beneficial for individuals facing complex or ongoing emotional challenges who would like a personalised approach to therapy.
